There are many things that can cause a slow computer such as a low memory, not enough hard drive space, corrupt operating system, computer virus, spyware, or hard drive fragmentation. Possible Solutions

Low memory

Low memory or insufficient random access memory can cause slow PC problem in your computer. RAM or physical memory is an essential part of any computer system which loads all the applications into computer’s memory before the execution. Huge application programs such as MS word, adobe Photoshop require a great amount of memory to run them. If the physical memory is not sufficient to load the applications, it will affect the whole system and the computer becomes slow. Using an additional RAM is a good option if it is too low.

Hard disk space is not sufficient

A hard drive is not only meant to store data in it, but it also uses as a virtual memory on various occasions. Make sure that there is at least 200-500MB of free hard disk drive space. This available space allows the computer to have room for the swap file to increase in size as well as room for temporary files. If you have left less than 20% of total hard disk space we recommend removing some of your unwanted programs from your hard drive and providing some space to your system.

Also run Windows disk cleanup and disk defrag utility to provide some space.

Left over programs and bad files

When we uninstall any program from a computer some of its remnants left in the system. These unwanted leftovers create many issues including a slow PC problem. Your registry badly gets affected by these leftovers. Use a good registry cleaner program to remove all kinds of leftovers from your system.

Data Corruption

Corrupt or damaged data in your computer can make your computer run slow. Verify all the corrupt data and remove it from your PC to speed up your PC. If you are not sure about the damaged or corrupt data, use a good computer cleaner program to recognize and eliminate such data.

Missing Windows updates / outdated drivers

Microsoft releases various security patches regularly. These updates help you to protect your computer. Though some of the updates may not be relevant for your PC, however if you have any issue with your system, we recommend to install all the necessary Windows updates. It is very easy to install Windows updates. Go to the control panel and select Windows update. You can check an automatic update option ON, so that the Windows will look for any update automatically.

Also remove and reinstall any outdated drivers from your system. An outdated driver can also make your PC run slow.

Computer overheating issue

Make sure the temperature of your computer remains normal. A CPU high temperature leads to many issues such as computer freezing, blue screen of death and slow PC problem. Verify if the CPU and power fans are working properly.

Corrupt OS

Corrupt operating system can make the whole system unstable and slow. An operating system is a very complex and multi level architecture. Due its complexity it gets corrupted and infected by various malicious items. Use Windows installation CD/DVD to repair the corrupt OS. You may also run a good computer cleaner program to repair the corrupt and damaged system files.

Bad Hardware or incompatible hardware component

Last but not least; the hardware components are very essential part of a computer system. If any hardware component is corrupt or incompatible, it can create many issues including slow PC problem. Replacing the affected hardware is the best solution to defeat the issue.
