My DVD drive not found in Windows 7

One may face many issues in Windows 7 systems; a DVD drive not found is one of the very common problems in Windows 7. It is possible that it's visible in the BIOS and using the standard driver but you cannot see the drive in your system.

If you ever face this issue you can repair the entire Windows as well, however this is a lengthy procedure and takes long time and efforts. However there are alternative registry repair and other methods as well that can be used to fix this issue. The methods are mentioned below.

An incorrect registry editing may cause some other issues in your system such as slow computer; it can cause a freezing issue also.

Click Start->Run-> type in “regedit” (without quotes).

Go to the registry key- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\, and then remove both UpperFilters and LowerFilters in the right-hand pane

Reboot your computer and check the drive appears or not.

If still the issue continues you may try the following method.

Resetting the drive letter can also work for some cases.

Open the Disk Management from;

Click Start, type Disk Management and choose the "Create and format hard disk partitions" link.

Locate the optical drive and then right-click it, select Change Drive Letter and Paths, click Change and choose a new letter.

If the drive is now visible in Windows Explorer, repeat the same process to modify the drive letter back; however if it's still not visible, reboot and it should be appeared there.
