Your computer can start slowly due to different reasons such as if startup is packed with too many items, if there is any infection in your computer any driver or hardware related fault can also cause a slow computer startup issue. If startup is packed up with too many programs: (Most important reason)
Irrespective of any Windows system if your startup is full with many programs no computer help is required but to uncheck some of the programs from the startup.
How to uncheck programs from windows startup list
1. Click on start and select run
2. Type in “msconfig” (without quotes) and press enter or OK.
3. Now a small window opens where you need to select startup tab.
4. In startup tab just view all the programs are listed. Note they all are not essential for windows startup. There can be some programs you may leave them selected. Such as you may leave your antivirus program as sometime an antivirus scans your PC during boot sequence and looks for any MBR virus, or if you are using any wireless connection, so it can be left checked.
5. Click Apply and OK.
Reduce Windows Timeout Value from system configuration utility
1. Click on start and select run
2. Type in “msconfig” (without quotes) and press enter or OK.
3. Now a small window opens where you need to select General tab.
4. Now locate the system timeout value which is 30 seconds by default. You may reduce it up to 5 seconds also.
5. Click apply and OK.
6. Reboot your computer.
Note- When the computer reboots next time it will display a message describing about the change that have been made to the system startup. Just place a check mark before it and press OK.
Alternate method with Edit registry-
Important: - It is highly recommended not to modify Windows registry if you are not an expert in editing the registry. Editing registry is a highly skilled task and involves many risks in it. We rather recommend using a good and reliable registry cleaner program to clean and fix the registry.
There is another way to speed up windows startup rate and that is related to windows registry. However this is only suitable for advance users. This fix certainly can solve the slow computer startup problem.
Go to: start/run ->Type in regedit, hit
Go to: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/SystemFileAssociations/.avi/shellex/PropertyHandler
Click on the value in the right frame and hit
If the system asks you if you are ok with take away the value, verify with yes.
Exit the registry editor and reboot your computer.
