  • Use an up to date security programs: - A computer is always vulnerable towards all kinds of threats such as a virus, spyware, Trojan horse, worm and many other similar malware programs. To protect the computer from al such malicious and harmful program you need an updated and latest virus definition program. An old and outdated security program will not help you to combat with newly released malware programs. I would also suggest using few other freeware computer cleaner and anti malware programs such as malwarebyte.
  • Do not fill your computer with too many security programs:- To protect your PC from various malicious threats is important always, however in order to protect it, do not fill the system with too many computer cleaner, registry cleaner and other antimalware programs. If there are many security programs installed they will conflict with each and will make your PC run slower. Also never use two antivirus programs in the same PC.
  • Uninstall old and bad security programs: - An outdated and old security program can slow down your PC’s performance. Also some poor security software may produce some other ill effects on your system such as blue screen.
  • Use either Windows or another firewall program:- Firewall is very important to resist any external program to enter into your system. An antivirus program helps you to remove the malicious item but it does not help to stop the program to enter into the PC. If you are using Windows firewall this is enough for Windows however if you wish you may use another firewall as well.
  • Remove unwanted or unused program: - Remove all the unneeded and useless programs from your computer. Go to your add and remove program folder and check how many such programs are installed that are not using now by you. Too many programs can slow down your PC performance to a maximum extent.
  • Increase your RAM:- Although increasing RAM is not a security measure at all, however if you are using 256MB and 512MB of Random access memory you will always experience a poor performance issue. Increasing RAM can resolve this problem.
  • Verify your hard drive space:- hard drive space is an essential aspect in order to protect the system and to get the maximum speed from your computer. Verify if your hard drive (system drive) is not less than 15% blank. If this is the case you will face many system performance related issues all the time.
  • Play safe whiles your browse the Internet:-One of the most important security aspect is to browse safe always. The Internet is the chief cause behind many malicious items. A virus comes through the internet in 99% cases. Do not click and open any unsafe webpage or link.
  • Verify the installed drivers in your system:- Make sure all your installed drivers are up to date and in working state. Poor and corrupted drivers may cause slow computer and many other issues as well. Uninstall and reinstall the latest driver set from the manufacturer’s website.
  • Scan any external media before using it: - If you ever use a USB or any CD/DVD device to your computer, make sure you have scanned the device before using it. An unsafe use of any such device can cause system related issue.
